In the folk tradition of Eastern and Northern Finland, that is, the mythical creature, “Fire Fox”, whose trapping meant great wealth and success for the hunter. Northern lights were reported to be caused by sparks at that time, which were thrown into the night sky while getting the snow cover of the galloping Fire Fox’s tail.
